Analytics Correlates Keyboard Use to IQ

1. April 2012 by Sphere 2 Comments

(Yes - this was an April Fool's Prank)

It’s no surprise that our IQ can be assessed from analyzing what we write, but it may be a surprise that now IQ can be assessed from how we type by measuring what buttons we press and how frequently we press them. Sphere of Influence has learned through their R&D efforts that certain keys on a keyboard can predict your IQ. For instance, the “space-bar” or the letter “A” are used by the entirety of the population, and thus indicate very little about a person’s intelligence. However, other keys, such as “Esc” or the up-arrow, can reveal a lot about one’s intelligence. After running a comprehensive analysis on millions of keystrokes, the data shows that frequent use of keys like the right-hand-Alt key or the tilde (~) key indicate a high probability of an IQ over 130.  Buttons like F6 indicate a probability of an IQ over 140.

To everyone who visited the site because of this post, THANK YOU. Many of you spotted the clues and guessed correctly because this was in fact an APRIL FOOL's prank. The "research" is totally fake, though based on analytical work we are actually doing in real life. I think it would be an interesting experiment to do, maybe if we have time we can do this later in the year and publish real findings.
